This project offered the opportunity to explore a rustic/modern aesthetic, taking cues from both the dramatic site and some of the original architectural elements. Primarily a new structure, the meandering plan surrounds the existing small house and great room.

The use of new and existing interior stone walls and new stone and wide plank wood floors help to bring the outside in. Stained vertical grain fir paneling and hickory wood floors are interchanged with white painted wood paneling to provide interest and contrast at the kitchen and family areas. New large quartzite tile floors connect various spaces and levels throughout the house.

The master suite wing combines quarter sawn white oak wide plank floors and painted wood paneling with limestone accents. Custom cabinetry was designed for every major room. All new lighting was selected or custom made for the various spaces.
